I was blown away when Bryn sent us 'Seraphim' for this auction, I need to mention that it is nearly 250 prims so you will need some space to rezz it. The majesty and magnificence of this piece takes your breath away.

Glyph Graves

Like Seraphim above, you will need to go and view Complex Heart in the flesh at the site specially created for that purpose. Those of you who know Glyphs work will how long it is possible to be mesmerised by his beautiful moving creations.

Schmonson Dalglish: The three pictures donated by Schmonson are intended to be as follows: one a gift for Fabilene and two to offer to the auction. We appreciated his skill and generosity.

Day 11: Wounded Cities:Orsini Tarantal

Last night Crossworlds hosted another opening of the mindblowing art of Orsini Tarantal whose long awaited 'Wounded Cities' exhibition made its debut at Crossworlds Gallery last night. Above you can see Orsini chatting to Fabiline Cortes (owner of Crossworlds Gallery along with her partner Nerd Bert) with Beirut behind and Stalingrad to their right and Hanoy to the left.

I was lucky enough to be there as Toby was DJing and could not resist purchasing Jersualem to add to my own collection. Emma Fargis is to my left and the enchanting cloud is Karelia Kondor both good friends to Crossworlds.

As you can see each of the ten works is a magnificant triptych. Arturo Martinsyde the singer reflects deeply on Dresden.

Reading from right to left, Bagdad (snagged by Toby, not to be outdone by me), Hiroshima and Manhatten.

There are ten cities in the serious. Each of which has been a victim in one way or another. Orsini makes us think of the impact on the city as an entity as well as its inhabitants.

 Fergus Solari, who was there with his  beautiful partner Azini Avedon, chats to the artist and gallery owner.

Day 10:The Perfect Valentines Gift?

I dont know about you, but I am already dreading Valentines Day. If you are single its like having your face rubbed in the bitter ashes of coupledom.

But... if you are unlucky enough to be part of a couple its ten times worse! 

There are a number of words that make me shudder including :- 'couple', 'partner', 'hubby', 'herself' and 'fiance' to name but a few. I am sure you get the gist.

Just imagine if you are happily tootling along in tandem with your lover and  on Valentines Day he suddenly produces a ring, or gives  you a LL partner agreement.

 Frightening!

The status quo would be  irrevocably changed for ever. Aargh.

I can't even begin to describe my horror at the thought  of facing my own SL wedding.

I do have a lover yes..................(and I am mad about you Toby)........................

.................but no shocks please!

So why all the picutures of the beautiful pink house I hear you ask?

Well...................it is the perfect Valetines gift!

Buy it for yourself and hide inside until after February 14th is over.

Day 9: My Top 10 from Crossworlds

One of the very best things about SL is the abundance  of creativity and talent. I was wandering through some of the floors in Crossworlds the other day as I often do and just to amuse myself I decided to pick my  top ten favourite pieces. It is actually almost impossitble to pick only ten and even more so to pick just on piece as with some aertists like Bryn Oh and Feathers Boa, it is all so engaging, even if the subject matter is contraversial or challenging, that it is almost impossible to pick only one  work.

Nonethless I decided to give it a go and here, in alphabetical order, are my ten favourite babies for January 2011.

I can barely speak the name Bryn Oh without being full of awe. I met her once briefly and she showed me around the set of Condos in Heaven whilst she was still working on it. I am blown away by her vision and her otherworldness. I have chosen Sea and Sky because it speaks to me as a symbol of our universal attatchement to the physical. When I get a full sim I will be buying one of her larger pieces.

This installation, Far Nebula, by Glyph Graves, is one of a series of 3D particle constructions that just blows me away. We have sited this above our skybox and often sit watching the extremely long cycle of animation effortlessly morph against the background of a starlight night sky.

Forever Love, Irina Negulescu, speaks for itself, Toby bought me this for Christmas because he knew how much I loved it.

Iggy, obviously an iguana, has a vibrant colour spectrum and shows Sinclair Stratton's skill with smoothly blending the palette. I love the gekkos that frequent the terraces in mediterranean locations and perhaps this is why this particular canvas speaks so eloquently to me.

Illusive Dreamer Feathers Boa.

I count myself lucky to have met Feathers a few times and to be in touch with her fairly regularly.

Each of her works is a footstep on her personnel journey and she invites the passive voyeur to vicariously taste the energies littered along its path. 

Like most of her works this interacts with the observer, a mark of true SL art to my thinking.

L'Etranger, Zeppie Innis is one of two works I ostensibly bought for Toby but never actually gave them to him. Sometimes you just cant actually give a piece of  art work away. This conjures up Robert Heinlen's novel, 'Stranger in a Strange Land' for me, please dont ask me why.

I love this work named Peacock by Saiwun Yoshikawa, it interacts with you as you walk closer. Try it out on the 7th floor.

Fabi gave this fabulous picture to Toby as a birthday gift, it is 'Playing into the Night, by Littleone Aries. We were at her opening recently and that is where I got the idea to share my top ten from Crossworlds. There is a full write up in an earlier post.

Between us, Toby and I have five of these whirling dervishes created by Typote Beck. this is my particular favourite. It is called, Panneau Fish Nuage 16. If you touch them they spin and if you move close they react; SL art that fits in so well with a range of environments.

Urchin by Sabine Stonebender is one of several of her very clever statement pieces and it was really hard to pick just one. Each time you touch it another spike of the urchin appears. Such a clever play on words and images.

Day 8: Arum Atrium

The above shybox is called Arum Atrium and ArchiTech is proud to

announces its launch on our marketplace with great pride. This skybox subscribes to our view that such items  should be attractive as well as functional and in terms of low prims count provides the discerning buyer with a canvas to build on that is both elegant and versatile.

Here you see the magnificant pool that covers the entire ground floor and is lit by the imposing floor to ceiling stained glass windows.

This shot, taken from the middle floor, shows how the pool is visible from all areas of the house and provides a visual foil against which the functional elelments of the residence are set.

There is no danger of my  falling as there is a low invisible barrier  over which I may fly but not tumble.

Here you see the vast living space, decorated with  three of Toby's streamlined white sofas, yet still allowing ample opportunity for the home owner to add his or her stamp.

 

Another view of the lining space allows a glimpse of the cordoned off sleeping and bathing areas.

With a plunge pool for bathing.............

.....................and an area for sleeping.

The lower floor can be one enormous entertainment area or the whole of one end of the build can be cordoned off for a specific purpose, in our illustration, it is a music room.

The atrium windows can be left transparent.....................

.......or made opaque for privacy.

Who says a skybox can't be attractive?
